Creative Innovations

Creative Innovations

In this workshop you will learn how to use several creative problem-solving techniques that can help you to maximize creativity and innovation in work, research and life. Many people know techniques like brainstorming, but there are so many other techniques such as zapstorm, brainwriting or deviators (De Vos, 2013). Such methods are science based, fun to try and will often give immediate results! Also, we will look at myths about creativity, and check what is counter-creative according to scientific research.

Many scientists are already very creative and innovative in their work, but in this workshop we will focus on highlighting and enhancing your creative process by making it more explicit. We will discuss different models and phases of scientific creativity like preparation, incubation, inspiration, elaboration, and communication. We will also reflect on issues like the differences and similarities between scientific and artistic creativity (Kaufman & Sternberg, 2010), and use results of creativity-research like that of Rex Jung (2013), to enhance the creativity of you and your team.
